FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where does anxiety “come from”?  Why I am so much more anxious than my friends?  I worry about everything!

Anxiety carries with it a very complex set of risk factors including genetics, your brain chemistry and (particularly in the case of a disorder such as PTSD) life events that you've experienced. You’re a unique individual with a unique way of viewing the world and everything that you’ve experienced is a product of who you are today.  We can help you unravel these experiences, thoughts, feelings and behaviors that may be causing you distress and help you find more healthy alternatives.

I’m so afraid of being judged, even to the point of never speaking up or having my voice “heard”. Can this be Social Anxiety?

Yes, a fear of being judged is one of the criteria for a diagnosis of Social Anxiety Disorder along with a fear of being negatively evaluated or rejected outright.
