PERINATAL & POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION

Perinatal and Postpartum Depression (PPD) is more prevalent than one would imagine affecting an estimated 20% of women.  It’s extremely serious as it’s a major depression that you may experience either while pregnant (Perinatal) or following delivery (Postpartum) of your baby.  The sadness and anxiety that you may be experiencing requires immediate attention, particularly if you are having thoughts of harming yourself or your baby.

Significantly more serious than “baby blues” (a mild depression and anxiety that generally resolves within two weeks following delivery), PPD can interfere with your ability to care for yourself and your child and become worse over time if left untreated.
